\A Calender is a machine used for pressing a continuous non woven web between rollers to create specific physical characteristics. Calendering a web can be used for controlling surface finish, thickness or just to get required properties such as structural reliability, liquid absorption, and abrasion resistance. Most famous brands are Andritz, Kusters, Lemaire, Salvade... The Non Woven calenders are composed with two or more steel rolls that close under pressure to smooth, compress. The rollers may be mirror-smooth, embossed with a pattern, or porous, and are usually heated with hot oil or electric elements. The Non Woven calender machines can be used independently or in an integrated production line .
